*At the March 31 meeting of the Texas Association of Watershed Sponsors
Texas NRCS requested all dam sponsors to submit a list of high hazard
watershed dams that need rehabilitation through the federal program by
_April 7_.*These would be dams that sponsors are considering for
rehabilitation within the next 5 years. No commitment is needed at this
time. This is in relation to the $250 million appropriated to NRCS for
watershed rehabilitation in the Farm Bill in the current fiscal year,
and a 5-year plan of rehabilitation is needed by NRCS.This is not an
application for rehabilitation (all sponsors do not need to sign this
request). This information should be submitted to Brian Wenberg - Texas
NRCS Acting Watershed Program Manager in the Texas NRCS State Office
(254.742.9945).

*Actual rehabilitation /applications/ are due by _April 25_.These would
be dams that need rehabilitation where sponsors are ready to move
forward with commitments for the local 35% share of funding required by
the federal Watershed Rehab Program.* All sponsors of a watershed dam
must sign these applications. The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation
Board's (TSSWCB) state-funded grant program will be accepting
applications during the next fiscal year that may provide assistance
with the 35% local share of rehabilitation for some projects.

If you need assistance or guidance on these issues, please contact Lee
Munz (254.773.2250 x241) or Steve Bednarz (254.773.2250 x246) at the TSSWCB.
